EXODUS—NOTE ON Exodus 29:19 The other ram (v. Exodus 29:19) is offered as a ram of ordination (vv. Exodus 29:22, Exodus 29:27), which differs in at least two ways from the burnt offering (vv. Exodus 29:15). First, some of its blood is placed on Aaron and his sons before it is thrown against the altar (v. Exodus 29:20). The blood is sprinkled on their clothes along with anointing oil to consecrate both the priests and their garments (v. Exodus 29:21). Second, rather than burning the whole ram on the altar, certain parts are offered to the Lord together with bread (vv. Exodus 29:22) and the breast is eaten by the priests (vv. Exodus 29:26).
