The earlier manuscripts being without accent marks, krinei (î⁴⁶ a A B* C D^{gr *} G^gr) can be read either as present or future tense. Since the expectation of the parousia was vivid in Paul’s day, a majority of the Committee regarded the future tense to be more appropriate in the context.
