Instead of kateskamme,na (A C D E L P (ska& H) (avnesk& E) most minuscules), several witnesses (a (&rem& B) 33 61 104 326 915) read katestramme,na. The Septuagint text of Amos 9:11 f., which is quoted here, also presents a variant reading involving the same word; A^c Q* read katestramme,na and B Q^a read kateskamme,na. The verb kataska,ptein occurs elsewhere in the New Testament only at Romans 11:3. A majority of the Committee preferred the rarer verb, supported as it is by representatives of the Alexandrian and the Western texts.
