The tabernacle of the testimony

(η σκηνη του μαρτυριου). Probably suggested by the mention of "the tabernacle of Moloch" (verse Acts 7:43). See on Matthew 17:4 for discussion of σκηνη (from σκια, shadow, root σκα, to cover). This first sanctuary was not the temple, but the tent in the wilderness.
