The emphasis is on having been tempted. Christ is the succored of the tempted because he has himself been tempted. jEn w= is not inasmuch as, but means in that which. jEn w= peponqen qualifies peirasqeiv, explaining in what the temptation consisted, namely, in suffering. 178
