John 7:24

From the foregoing argument, Christ draws an inference or conclusion, That there is no making. judgment according to the first appearance of things: and that suddenness or rashness, prejudice or partiality, in judging, overthrows righteous judgment. This is the general application of what Christ had said before: and the particular application of it, as to himself, comes to this, Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment; as if Christ had said, "Lay aside your prejudices against my person, and compare these cases attentively and impartially with one another; and then see whether you can justly condemn me as. sabbath-breaker, and acquit yourselves." Such was the perfect innocency of our Saviour's actions, that he could and did submit them to the reason and judgment of his very enemies.
