Our (RV) common salvation is the result of Christ's work, which is a fact that nothing can alter, on which all alike, Apostle and disciple, strong and weak, may base their life: the faith which was once for all (RV) delivered to the saints is the declaration of this fact, and must be defended, or it may be forgotten or denied.

4. From this v. to Judges 1:19 this Epistle must be compared with 2 Pet. The only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ] RV 'our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.' These men did not refuse to believe in God, though they rebelled against Him, and by their lasciviousness abused His grace. In Christ, as Master and Lord, they would not believe. Their unbelief, rebellion, and lasciviousness correspond to the unbelief of Israel, the rebellion of the angels, and the lasciviousness of the cities of the plain (Judges 1:5).
