This is a Ps. of the strongest faith, in which the experience of hostility (Psalms 62:3) and the contemplation of life (Psalms 62:9) only provide the background against which a serene confidence in God displays itself. Its tone is not inconsistent with the character of David, who 'strengthened himself in the Lord his God' (1 Samuel 30:6 RV). Psalms 62:1 are practically repeated in Psalms 62:5; Psalms 62:6.
