We find this, act of special grace in JEHOVAH, as it concerns the person of Christ and his people in him, so often in the Scripture, and as it is so important, I have thought a reference to some of the more prominent texts would not be unacceptable, in a work of this kind. Concerning the person of the Lord Jesus Christ as chosen, and set apart from all eternity, the glorious Head and Mediator of his people, these portions are some among the many. Isaiah 41:8-9; Isaiah 43:10. compared with Matthew 12:18; Nehemiah 9:7; Numbers 16:5; Numbers 16:7; Psalms 47:4; Isaiah 49:7; Psalms 89:3; Psalms 89:19; Isaiah 48:10; Luke 23:35; 1 Peter 2:4 etc. And concerning the children of Christ chosen in him, and sanctified in him, the following are among the many with which the word of God abounds to the same doctrine. Ephesians 1:4; Isaiah 14:1; Deuteronomy 7:6; Psalms 105:5; Psalms 105:43; 1 Chronicles 16:13; Psalms 106:5; Isaiah 43:20; Isaiah 65:15; Matthew 20:16; Mark 13:20; John 13:18; John 15:16; John 15:19; Acts 22:14; Acts 9:15; 1 Corinthians 1:27; Romans 16:13; James 2:5; 1 Peter 2:9; Revelation 17:14 etc.
