For the first time the writer discloses the practical aim which gives force and meaning to his theological argument. Christian men ought to realise the grandeur of their calling, and to hold fast to the message which was not delivered by angels like the Jewish Law (_cf._ Acts 7:53; Galatians 3:19), but by the Son Himself.
