This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise. THIS PEOPLE HAVE I FORMED FOR MYSELF - `my people, my chosen' (see ; ; ). THEY SHALL SHOW FORTH MY PRAISE - on account of the many and great benefits conferred on them, especially their restoration....

21._This people have I created for myself. _The Prophet means that the Lord will necessarily do what he formerly said, because it concerns his glory to preserve the people whom he has chosen for himself; and therefore these words are intended for the consolation of the people. “Do you think that I will suffer my glory to fall to the ground? RV understands it to refer to a flight by water of the Babylonians from their fallen city. Yahweh recalls His people's passage through the Red Sea, when He overwhelmed the Egyptians.
