Verse Job 39:13. _THE GOODLY WINGS UNTO THE PEACOCKS?_] I believe _peacocks_ are not intended here; and the Hebrew word רננים _renanim_ should be translated _ostriches_; and the term חסידה _chasidah_, which we translate _ostrich_, should be, as it is elsewhere translated, _stork_; and perhaps the word נצה _notsah_, rendered here _feathers_, should be translated _hawk_, or _pelican_. The _Vulgate_ has, _Penna struthionis similis est pennis herodii et_ _accipitris_; "the feather of the ostrich is like to that of the stork and the hawk." GOODLY WINGS UNTO THE PEACOCKS— Bochart seems to have proved, beyond all dispute, that the word rendered _peacocks_ signifies _ostriches;_ and the following description entirely agrees with that opinion.
