Lévitique 24:10

And the son of an Israelitish woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the children of Israel: and this son of the Israelitish woman and a man of Israel strove together in the camp;

Le fils d'une femme israélite ... Ce passage raconte la promulgation d'une nouvelle loi, avec un détail des circonstances qui l'ont engendrée. La "multitude mixte" (cf. Néhémie 13:3) qui accompagna les Israélites dans leur exode d'Egypte, crée une présomption que les relations matrimoniales du type décrit n'étaient pas rares (cf. 1 Chroniques 4:18). Et il était très naturel, dans la situation relative des deux personnes, que le père soit égyptien et la mère israélite.
