16._Let no one therefore judge you. _What he had previously said of circumcision he now extends to the difference of meats and days. For circumcision was the first introduction to the observance of the law, other things (384) followed afterwards. Verse 16. _LET NO MAN - JUDGE YOU IN MEAT, OR IN DRINK_] The apostle speaks here in reference to some particulars of the _hand-writing of ordinances_, which had been _taken away_, viz., the distinction of _meats_ and _drinks_, what was _clean_ and what _unclean_, according to the law; and the necessity of observing certain _holydays_ or _festivals_, such as the _new moons_ and particular _sabbaths_, or those which should be observed with more than ordinary solemnity; all these had been taken out of the way and nailed to the cross, and were no longer of moral obligation. There is no intimation here that the _Sabbath_ was done away, or that its moral use was superseded, by the introduction of Christianity.
