2 CORINTHIANS—NOTE ON 2 Corinthians 13:3 Following the pattern of Christ’s own weakness (2 Corinthians 1:5; 2 Corinthians 8:9; Philippians 2:7), Paul too has been weak for the sake of God’s people. This showed them God’s Spirit and glory through his own sufferings (2 Corinthians 1:3; 2 Corinthians 2:14; 2 Corinthians 4:7; 2 Corinthians 6:3; 2 Corinthians 11:23; 2 Corinthians 12:7). But also like Christ, Paul will exercise the power of God in judging the Corinthians’ behavior and beliefs (see 1 Corinthians 5:12; 1 Corinthians 6:1).
