The location of Arimathea is not certain, though some identify it as Ramah (or Ramathaim-Zophim; see 1 Samuel 1:19). From the Jewish town implies that Luke’s readers were Gentiles (see Luke 1:26). a member of the council. The Sanhedrin. A good and righteous man (compare Luke 1:6; Luke 2:25) and looking for the kingdom of God imply that Joseph was a believer (Matthew 27:57 calls him “a disciple of Jesus”).
