For circumcision indeed profiteth, if thou be. doer of the law: but if thou be. transgressor of the law, thy circumcision is become uncircumcision.

These verses make the point that receiving privileges from God, bring one under obligation to glorify God. The Covenant of Circumcision didn't only mark the Jew as. privileged one, but also, ONE UNDER OBLIGATION TO OBEY. Circumcision was no 'magic shield' to ward off condemnation due to disobedience. Neither is baptism, attendance, the Lord's Supper, etc..

'if thou be. transgressor..they circumcision is become uncircumcision' -by dishonoring God through disobedience, the Jew became in practice what he abhorred, an uncircumcised Gentile. The same is true with unfaithful Christians.
