On the one hand, the absence of avdelfoi, from î⁴⁶ D F G L Y 1739 Byz Lect it^{d, g} is surprising, just as the presence of the word in an affectionate asseveration is to be expected. On the other hand, however, because of strong external support for inclusion of the word (a A B 33 81 104 330 1241 it^{f, ar} vg syr^pal goth arm), the Committee was reluctant to drop it from the text altogether, and finally decided to enclose it within square brackets.
