Isaiah 30:26

Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound. THE LIGHT OF THE MOON ... THE LIGHT OF THE SUN - image from the heavenly bodies, to express the increase of spiritual light and felicity. "Seven-fold" implies the perjection of that felicity, seven being the sacred number. It shall also be literally fulfilled here after in the heavenly city (Isaiah 60:19; Revelation 21:23; ). Verse Isaiah 30:26. _SHALL BE SEVENFOLD_] The text adds כאור שבעת הימים _keor_ _shibath haiyamayim_, "as the light of seven days," a manifest gloss, taken in from the margin; it is not in most of the copies of the _Septuagint_. It interrupts the rhythmical construction, and obscures the sense by a false, or at least an unnecessary, interpretation. By _moon, sun, light_, are to be understood the abundance of spiritual and temporal felicity, with which God should bless them in the days of the Messiah, which should be sevenfold, i.e. vastly exceed all that they had ever before possessed....
