Living voices shall take up the failing sounds of dead instruments, and as they cease on earth, those of intelligent ransomed spirits and holy angels, as with the sound of mighty thunders, will prolong eternally the praise, saying, "Alleluia! salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God: ... Alleluia! the Lord God omnipotent reigneth." Amen....

6._Whatever breathes, etc. _As the word נשמה,_neshamah, _means _breath, _or _blowing, _and whatever is animate, or breathes, the words may be extended to every kind of living creatures, as we have seen in the preceding psalms that the declaration of God’s praises is assigned even to things wanting intelligence. But as men exclusively are often meant under the name of “flesh,” so we may very well suppose that the words have reference here to men, who, although they have vital breath in common with the brute creation, obtain by way of distinction the name of breathing, as of living creatures. I am led to think this for the following reason: As yet the Psalmist has addressed himself in his exhortations to the people who were conversant with the ceremonies under the law, now he turns to men in general, tacitly intimating that a time was coming when the same songs, which were then only heard...

Verse Psalms 150:6. _LET EVERY THING THAT HATH BREATH_] Either to make a vocal noise, or a sound by blowing into _pipes, fifes, flutes,_ _trumpets_, c. Let all join together, and put forth all your _strength_ and all your _skill_ in sounding the praises of Jehovah and then let a _universal burst_ with HALLELUJAH! close the grand ceremony. LET EVERYTHING THAT HATH BREATH PRAISE THE LORD - All living things in the air, the earth, the waters. Let there be one universal burst of praise. EXPOSITION COMMENTATORS generally are agreed that this is a most noble psalm, a fit conclusion to the noble collection which here terminates. Professor Cheyne says, "Psalms 150:1 closes this Hallelujah group not less worthily than the whole group concludes the Psalter. It is the finale of the spiritual concert." Hengstenberg observes, "We have here a full-toned call to the praise of God, quite appropriate to the close of this psalm-cycle and of the whole Psalter." The "Four Friends" say, "With these grand words the Psalter closes." Dr. Mason Good points out, as the speciality of the psalm, that it sets before us in detail the various elements of the temple music. LET EVERYTHING THAT HATH BREATH PRAISE THE LORD,.... Even the brute creatures, as in a preceding; but more especially man, in whom God has breathed the breath of life, and is become not only a living but a rational soul; and more especially spiritual men, converted persons, whether Jews or Gentiles; on whom the Spirit of the Lord has breathed, and whom he has quickened; and who breathe in prayer after divine things; and who also have abundant reason to bless and praise his name for what he has bestowed upon them, and has in reserve for them; and for which they should praise him as long as they have breath; see Revelation 5:13; PRAISE YE THE LORD; all before mentioned, and in the manner as directed, and that in time and to all eternity. Psalms 150:1. _Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary:_ Notice how, in this last Psalm, it is praise, praise, praise, all the way through. I think we have the word «praise» some thirteen times in the six verses. It is all «praise him, praise him, praise him.» It is not enough to do it once, or twice, we should keep on praising the Lord till we should make the very heavens ring with the music of his praises. «Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary:» that is, in his holy place where he dwells. Begin, ye angels, cherubim, and seraphim, pour forth his praise. PSALM 144-150 THE HALLELUJAH CHORUS The five Psalms with which this marvellous book closeth are all Psalms of praise. The word “praise” is found in the Hebrew thirty-seven times. Each one of these Psalms begins and ends with a hallelujah; there are ten hallelujahs. First is a hallelujah which celebrates Himself, He who is the God of Jacob. Precious vision of Him who delights to call Himself “the God of Jacob,” the God who loves the sinner and has redeemed His people. Who is He? The Creator of all, by whom and for whom all things were made (Psalms 146:6).
