Psalms 96:2

Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day. SHOW FORTH HIS SALVATION FROM DAY TO DAY - (cf. with this verse and Psalms 96:10; Isaiah 52:7; Isaiah 52:10 end.) The Hebrew [ baasªruw (H1319)] is properly, 'publish the good tidings;' 'herald the Gospel of his salvation:' a word found also in the latter portion of Isaiah. "From day to day" expresses that it is an abiding salvation, and therefore continually to be praised....

1-9 When Christ finished his work on earth, and was received into his glory in heaven, the church began to sing a new song unto him, and to bless his name. His apostles and evangelists showed forth his salvation among the heathen, his wonders among all people. All the earth is here summoned to worship the Lord. We must worship him in the beauty of holiness, as God in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself. Glorious things are said of him, both as motives to praise and matter of praise....

Verse Psalms 96:2. _SHOW FORTH HIS SALVATION FROM DAY TO DAY._] The original is very emphatic, בשרו מיום ליום ישועתו _basseru miyom leyom_ _yeshuatho_ "Preach the Gospel of his salvation from day to day." To the same effect the Septuagint, Ευαγγελιζεσθε ἡμεραν εξ ἡμερας το σωτηριον αυτου, "Evangelize his salvation from day to day....

SING UNTO THE LORD, BLESS HIS NAME - This verse is substantially the same as 1 Chronicles 16:23; “Sing unto the Lord, all the earth; show forth from day to day his salvation.” SHOW FORTH HIS SALVATION - His interposition; the fact that he has saved or delivered us. This may have referred originally in particular to what he had done to save the people in time of danger, but the language is such also as to express salvation in a higher sense - salvation from sin and death. As such it may be employed to express what God has done for mankind - for all people, Jews and Gentiles - in providing a way of salvation, and making it possible that they should reach heaven.
