Deuteronomio 32:1-52
1 Presten atención, oh cielos, y hablaré; escuche la tierra los dichos de mi boca.
2 Goteará como lluvia mi enseñanza, destilará cual rocío mi palabra, como lloviznas sobre el pasto, como aguaceros sobre la hierba.
3 Porque el nombre del SEÑOR proclamaré. ¡Engrandezcan a nuestro Dios!
4 “Él es la Roca, cuya obra es perfecta, porque todos sus caminos son rectitud. Él es un Dios fiel, en quien no hay iniquidad; es justo y recto.
5 La corrupción no es suya; de sus hijos es la mancha, generación torcida y perversa.
6 ¿Así pagan al SEÑOR, pueblo necio e insensato? ¿Acaso no es él tu Padre, tu Creador, quien te hizo y te estableció?
7 “Acuérdate de los días antiguos; considera los años de muchas generaciones. Pregunta a tu padre, y él te declarará; a tus ancianos, y ellos te dirán.
8 Cuando el Altísimo repartió heredades a las naciones, cuando separó a los hijos del hombre, estableció las fronteras de los pueblos según el número de los hijos de Israel.
9 Porque la porción del SEÑOR es su pueblo; Jacob es la parcela de su heredad.
10 “Lo halló en tierra desértica, en medio de la soledad rugiente del desierto. Lo rodeó, lo cuidó, lo guardó como a la niña de sus ojos;
11 como el águila que agita su nidada, revolotea sobre sus polluelos, extiende sus alas, los toma, y los lleva sobre sus plumas.
12 El SEÑOR solo lo guió; no hubo dioses extraños con él.
13 Lo hizo cabalgar sobre las alturas de la tierra y lo hizo comer los productos del campo. Hizo que chupara miel de la peña, aceite del duro pedernal,
14 mantequilla de las vacas, leche de las ovejas, con sebo de corderos y carneros, y machos cabríos de Basán. Con lo mejor del trigo y de la sangre de uvas bebiste vino.
15 “Jesurún se engordó y dio coces. (Te hiciste gordo, grueso y rollizo). Y abandonó al Dios que lo hizo; desdeñó a la Roca de su salvación.
16 Lo provocaron a celos con dioses ajenos; lo enojaron con abominaciones.
17 Ofrecieron sacrificios a los demonios, no a Dios; a dioses que no habían conocido, a dioses nuevos, llegados de cerca, a los cuales sus padres no temieron.
18 Te has olvidado de la Roca que te procreó; te has olvidado del Dios que te hizo nacer.
19 “El SEÑOR lo vio, e indignado desdeñó a sus hijos y a sus hijas.
20 Entonces dijo: ‘Esconderé de ellos mi rostro y veré cuál será su final; porque son una generación perversa, hijos en quienes no hay fidelidad.
21 Ellos me provocaron a celos con lo que no es Dios; me indignaron con sus vanidades. También yo los provocaré a celos con uno que no es pueblo; con una nación insensata les causaré indignación.
22 Porque fuego se ha encendido en mi furor y arderá hasta el fondo del Seol. Devorará la tierra y sus frutos, e inflamará los fundamentos de las montañas.
23 Yo añadiré males sobre ellos; con mis flechas los acabaré.
24 Serán abatidos por el hambre, y consumidos por la fiebre ardiente y por la amarga plaga. Contra ellos enviaré dientes de fieras junto con el veneno de serpientes que se arrastran en el polvo.
25 Afuera desolará la espada y adentro el espanto, tanto a los jóvenes como a las vírgenes, al que mama y al hombre con canas.
26 Yo dije: Yo los dispersaría; haría cesar su memoria de entre los hombres,
27 si no temiera la saña del enemigo, y que sus adversarios entiendan mal. No sea que ellos digan: Nuestra mano enaltecida hizo todo esto, y no el SEÑOR’.
28 “Son un pueblo al cual le falta juicio; no hay en ellos entendimiento.
29 Si fueran sabios, entenderían esto; comprenderían cuál sería su final.
30 ¿Cómo podrá perseguir uno a mil? ¿Cómo harán huir dos a diez mil, si su Roca no los hubiera vendido, si el SEÑOR no los hubiera entregado?
31 La roca de ellos no es como nuestra Roca; nuestros mismos enemigos lo han de reconocer.
32 La vid de ellos proviene de la vid de Sodoma, y de los campos de Gomorra. Sus uvas son uvas venenosas; sus racimos son amargos.
33 Su vino es veneno de serpientes y veneno cruel de cobras.
34 “‘¿Acaso no tengo reservado esto conmigo, sellado entre mis tesoros?
35 Mía es la venganza, yo pagaré; a su debido tiempo su pie resbalará. Porque está cercano el día de su calamidad, y lo que les está preparado se apresura’.
36 “Ciertamente el SEÑOR juzgará a su pueblo y tendrá misericordia de sus siervos, cuando vea que se agota su fuerza y que no queda nadie, ni preso ni abandonado.
37 Él dirá: ‘¿Dónde están sus dioses, la roca en que se refugiaban,
38 los que comían el sebo de sus sacrificios y bebían el vino de sus libaciones? ¡Que se levanten y los socorran! ¡Que les sirvan de refugio!’.
39 “‘Vean ahora que yo, Yo Soy, y conmigo no hay más dioses. Yo hago morir y hago vivir; yo hiero y también sano; no hay quien pueda librar de mi mano.
40 Ciertamente levantaré mis manos a los cielos y diré: ¡Viva yo para siempre!
41 Cuando afile mi reluciente espada y mi mano arrebate el juicio, tomaré venganza de mis enemigos y retribuiré a los que me aborrecen.
42 Mi espada devorará carne, y mis flechas embriagaré con sangre: con la sangre de muertos y cautivos, y de las cabezas melenudas del enemigo’.
43 “¡Regocíjense, oh naciones, con su pueblo! Porque él vengará la sangre de sus siervos. Él tomará venganza de sus enemigos y expiará la tierra de su pueblo”.
44 Moisés fue con Josué hijo de Nun y pronunció todas las palabras de este cántico a oídos del pueblo.
45 Cuando Moisés acabó de pronunciar todas estas palabras a todo Israel,
46 les dijo: “Apliquen su corazón a todas las palabras con que yo les advierto hoy, para que las encarguen a sus hijos a fin de guardar y poner por obra todas las palabras de esta ley.
47 Porque no son palabras vanas; pues son la vida de ustedes, y a causa de estas palabras prolongarán sus días en la tierra que para tomarla en posesión cruzan el Jordán”.
48 Aquel mismo día el SEÑOR habló a Moisés diciendo:
49 “Sube a este monte de Abarim, al monte Nebo, que está en la tierra de Moab, frente a Jericó, y mira la tierra de Canaán que yo doy en posesión a los hijos de Israel.
50 Allí en el monte a donde subas, morirás y serás reunido con tu pueblo, así como murió Aarón tu hermano en el monte Hor y fue reunido con su pueblo.
51 Porque actuaron contra mí en medio de los hijos de Israel en las aguas de Meriba en Cades, en el desierto de Zin; y no me trataron como santo en medio de los hijos de Israel.
52 Por eso verás la tierra delante de ti, pero no irás allá, a la tierra que doy a los hijos de Israel”.
Así que este es el cántico que Moisés enseñó a los hijos de Israel. Y de paso fue la primera canción de rock de éxito. Es una canción sobre la Roca.
Porque yo publicaré el nombre de Jehová: atribuid grandeza a nuestro Dios. Él es la roca, Su obra es perfecta: porque todos sus caminos son juicio, un Dios de verdad y sin iniquidad, justo y recto es Él ( Deuteronomio 32:3-4 ).
Entonces la canción comienza con una declaración de Dios como nuestra Roca, de Sus obras, Sus caminos, Sus juicios, Sus verdades, Su justicia. pero la gente
Se han corrompido a sí mismos, su mancha no es la mancha de sus hijos: son una generación perversa y torcida. ¿Así pagáis a Jehová, pueblo necio e insensato? ¿No es él vuestro padre que os ha comprado? ¿No te hizo él, y te afirmó? Acordaos de los días de antaño, considerad los años de muchas generaciones: preguntad a vuestro padre, y él os hará saber; los ancianos, y ellos te lo dirán.
Cuando el Altísimo repartió a las naciones su heredad, cuando separó a los hijos de Adán, fijó los límites de los pueblos según el número de los hijos de Israel. Porque la porción de Jehová es su pueblo ( Deuteronomio 32:5-9 );
Luego, en el versículo once, una hermosa figura.
Como el águila que alborota su nido, revolotea sobre sus polluelos, extiende sus alas, los toma, los lleva sobre sus alas, así Jehová solo lo guió, y no hubo dios extraño con él ( Deuteronomio 32:11-12 ) ).
Y así la bella figura de Dios en forma de águila: "Como el águila que agita el nido". Ahora, en realidad la descripción aquí es de una madre águila enseñando a los pequeños aguiluchos a volar. ¿Y cómo enseña a volar la madre águila a los aguiluchos? Expulsándolos del nido. Ahora los aguiluchos están muy cómodos en el nido. Y los nidos solían estar en lo alto de los lados de los acantilados. Pero la madre águila echará a patadas a los aguiluchos del nido cuando llegue el momento de aprender a volar.
Y el pequeño aguilucho comenzará a batir sus alas sin coordinación y todo, y comenzará a caer mientras aletea y simplemente comenzará a caer hacia abajo. Y el aguilucho madre está revoloteando sobre él, pero luego se abalanza, justo cuando llega a las rocas, se abalanza debajo del aguilucho y lo atrapa con sus alas y lo lleva de regreso al nido hasta la próxima lección. Ahora, eso puede parecer una forma bastante dura de enseñarle a volar a un aguilucho, pero no hay otra forma de enseñarlo.
Y tiene que aprender a volar.
Ahora, la imagen es realmente de Dios desarrollándonos en nuestro caminar y relación con Él. Es muy fácil para nosotros sentirnos cómodos a veces en una posición particular, en un lugar particular, bajo circunstancias particulares. Y de repente Dios comienza a remover el nido. Pensamos que teníamos una gran seguridad laboral, pero descubrimos que nos han despedido. "Dios, ¿qué estás haciendo?" Te está enseñando a volar.
Y a veces, en tu torpeza, miras hacia abajo y estás aleteando y gritando. Y los aguiluchos, realmente gritan mientras caen, y ves las rocas subir tan rápido, y piensas: "Claro. Me van a estrellar. Este es el final. Todo ha terminado. Dios , me has abandonado". Luego, Dios se abalanza por debajo, te levanta y, de repente, comienzas a ver el plan de Dios emergiendo.
Estaba hablando con un hombre el otro día. Fuimos a almorzar juntos. Es el presidente de una gran corporación aquí en el condado de Orange. Hace tres años fue despedido de Thrifty's Drug store después de trabajar para ellos durante trece años. Era gerente de una de sus tiendas. Y había recibido amenazas contra su vida y la de su familia, por lo que le pidió a Thrifty's que lo trasladara de esa tienda y se negaron a hacerlo. Y él dijo: "Bueno, o me traspasan o me despiden".
Y así lo despidieron después de trece años. Y él dijo: "Señor, ¿qué me va a pasar ahora? Señor, ¿qué está pasando? Y estaba aleteando y gritando. Pero se fue a trabajar como vendedor para esta corporación y fue bendecido. Pronto se convirtió en el gerente de ventas. en unos meses, y cuando los dueños decidieron vender la corporación, él estaba en condiciones de comprarla, y ahora es el dueño y presidente de esta gran corporación.
Ahora ves que eso es lo que Dios tenía en mente todo el tiempo. Pero mientras tuviera la seguridad de su trabajo y trabajara para Thrifty, no estaba buscando trabajo. Ahora, Dios tenía esta posición para él, pero ¿cómo va Dios a llevarlo a esta posición? La única forma es agitar el nido, hacer que lo despidan de su trabajo en Thriftys. “Ahora estoy despedido. ¿Qué voy a hacer? Bueno, voy a buscar trabajo.
" All right, now you're in a position where God can lead you because you're out looking. You see we get locked into situations. So often when we get locked in we get comfortable and we're not really looking for what God might have for us, because we're very comfortable in this position. So God stirs up the nest. And we think, "Oh, I'm surely going to perish, no hope". Then God spreads forth His wings, bears you up, and thus we grow, thus we learn to trust in the Lord and to rely on the Lord as we are gaining strength and learning more and more how to fly.
And so that beautiful picture of the eagle, stirring up her nest, fluttering over her young, spreading abroad her wings, taking them and bearing them on her wings. So the Lord alone did lead him so that there was no strange god within him. He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and He made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock; but they lightly esteemed the rock of his salvation.
But Jeshurun, (which is Israel,) waxed fat, they kicked: they waxen fat, they've grown thick, they're covered with fatness; so they forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation. They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger. They sacrificed unto devils, not to God (Deuteronomio 32:15-17);
Now Paul tells us that they who sacrifice to idols are actually sacrificing to devils. There was a common belief that a demon actually inhabited the idols of these gods. And that is very possibly true, I wouldn't doubt it at all. And many of these idols of little pagan gods actually have demons that are associated with them. So they that were sacrificing to these idols were actually sacrificing unto devils which shows the idiocy of saying concerning a person involved in a false religious system. "Well, he is so sincere in the worship of his god surely God will, you know, accept him and save him. He is sincerely worshipping the devil, so God should reward him."
Now of the Rock that had begotten them, they were not mindful, they had forsaken God that formed him (Deuteronomio 32:18).
And so this song, is quite a song of Moses. I'm amazed that the people were able to learn it. And so God tells them that because they had provoked His anger by the worship of these other gods that He
will heap mischiefs upon them; Thy shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction (Deuteronomio 32:23-24):
I personally feel that this is a prophecy of the holocaust in Germany. And the being burned in the ovens in Germany was predicted in this song. And when their trouble came they were to sing this song, and if they would, it was to remind them of why the calamities befell them.
Now so often today you talk to a Jew and you find he is an atheist because he will say, "Where was God when my parents or grandparents were burned in the ovens in Germany?" If they would have kept this song and sung this song, they would know why all the calamities befell them because they had forsaken God, and thus they had been forsaken by God.
And so God tells of the
scattering to the corners of the earth; make the remembrance to cease. O that they were wise, (says God) that they understood this, that they would consider what is the end result (Deuteronomio 32:26; Deuteronomio 32:29).
Oh, how God wants you to be wise and to look ahead and to see what the end result is of the lifestyle you've chosen. God's crying. He's crying over man's ignorance, over man's folly. Oh, that they did know; only if they would look ahead and see what the end result of what that lifestyle is.
How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them and the Lord had shut them in (Deuteronomio 32:30)?
How could these happen unless God was with you? You forget to see, you forget to look that it was God's hand that did it for you, for the enemies rock is not as our Rock.
For their vine is the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter: their wine is the poison of dragons and all (Deuteronomio 32:32-33).
Now God said,
To me belongs vengeance, (verse thirty-five) and recompense; Their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste (Deuteronomio 32:35).
That is the text that Jonathan Edwards used for his sermon, Sinners in the hands of an angry God. "Now unto me belongeth vengeance, and recompense; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste." Jonathan Edwards in the sermon Sinners in the hand of an angry God, said, "That a sinner is like a man walking over a fiery pit on a icy plank.
Your footing is so unsure at any moment you can slip into the abyss."
It was a very powerful sermon, one of the most classic sermons in the history of the church, I guess. Jonathan Edwards was nearsighted; he had written out the sermon and he read it holding it up close so that he could see it. And as he was reading this sermon to the congregation, the power of the Holy Spirit began to convict people so greatly that they began to crawl down the aisle, screaming out to God for mercy. You want to read something really chilling sometime read "Sinners in the hands of an angry God" by Jonathan Edwards. Oh, what a servant. It's really heavy duty. This is the text for that sermon.
For the LORD shall judge His people, and repeat Himself for His servants, when He sees that their power is gone, and there is none left. And He shall say, Where are their gods, the rock in whom you were trusting. Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? Let them rise up and help you, and be your protection. See now that I am He, and there is no god with me (or beside Me): I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that deliver out of my hand (Deuteronomio 32:36-39).
Some people say, "Does God make people sick?" Well, He said here that He does for purposes, different purposes within our lives. God says that He wounds, that He even kills, that He heals; that He makes alive. There are certain teachers today who would deny this, but there it is.
For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live for ever. If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that hate me. I will make my arrows drunk with their blood (Deuteronomio 32:40-42),
And so forth. And God goes on to tell of the calamities that will come, the song they are to sing, so that when the calamities did come they would remember this is the reason.
So, set your hearts to all the words which I testify among you today, (verse forty-six), which you shall command you to observe the words of this law. For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life (Deuteronomio 32:46-47)
Man, set your heart to it. Look, it is not an empty thing; it's your life. This is a matter of life and death. It isn't just something to just pass off lightly. God is saying, "it's your life, not a vain thing".
Now the Lord said to Moses, get up to mount Nebo which is in the land of Moab, which is over against Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession: And die in the mount where you go up, and you will be gathered unto thy people; as Aaron your brother died in mount Hor, and was gathered unto his people. Because you trespassed against me at the waters of Meribah, because you did not sanctify me in the midst of the children of Israel (Deuteronomio 32:48-51).
