Jeremias 25:1-38
1 A palavra veio a Jeremias a respeito de todo o povo de Judá no quarto ano de Jeoaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, que foi o primeiro ano de Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia.
2 O que o profeta Jeremias anunciou a todo o povo de Judá e aos habitantes de Jerusalém foi isto:
3 Durante vinte e três anos a palavra do Senhor tem vindo a mim, desde o décimo terceiro ano de Josias, filho de Amom, rei de Judá, até o dia de hoje. E eu a tenho anunciado a vocês, dia após dia, mas vocês não me deram ouvidos.
4 Embora o Senhor tenha enviado a vocês os seus servos, os profetas, dia após dia, vocês não os ouviram nem lhes deram atenção,
5 quando disseram: "Converta-se cada um do seu caminho mau e de suas más obras, e vocês permanecerão na terra que o Senhor deu a vocês e aos seus antepassados para sempre.
6 Não sigam outros deuses para prestar-lhes culto e adorá-los; não provoquem a minha ira com ídolos feitos por vocês. E eu não trarei desgraça sobre vocês".
7 "Mas vocês não me deram ouvidos e me provocaram à ira com os ídolos que vocês fizeram, trazendo desgraça sobre si mesmos", declara o Senhor.
8 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: "Visto que vocês não ouviram as minhas palavras,
9 convocarei todos os povos do norte e o meu servo Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia", declara o Senhor, "e os trarei para atacar esta terra, os seus habitantes e todas as nações ao redor. Eu os destruirei completamente e os farei um objeto de pavor e de zombaria, e uma ruína permanente.
10 Darei fim às vozes de júbilo e de alegria, às vozes do noivo e da noiva, ao som do moinho e à luz das candeias.
11 Toda esta terra se tornará uma ruína desolada, e essas nações estarão sujeitas ao rei da Babilônia durante setenta anos.
12 "Quando se completarem os setenta anos, castigarei o rei da Babilônia e a sua nação, a terra dos babilônios, por causa de suas iniqüidades", declara o Senhor, "e a deixarei arrasada para sempre.
13 Cumprirei naquela terra tudo o que falei contra ela, tudo o que está escrito neste livro e que Jeremias profetizou contra todas as nações.
14 Porque os próprios babilônios serão escravizados por muitas nações e grandes reis; eu lhes retribuirei conforme as suas ações e as suas obras".
15 Assim me disse o Senhor, o Deus de Israel: "Pegue de minha mão este cálice com o vinho da minha ira e faça com que bebam dele todas as nações a quem eu o envio.
16 Quando o beberem, ficarão cambaleando, enlouquecidos por causa da espada que enviarei entre elas".
17 Então peguei o cálice da mão do Senhor, e fiz com que dele bebessem todas as nações às quais o Senhor me enviou:
18 Jerusalém e as cidades de Judá, seus reis e seus líderes, para fazer deles uma desolação e um objeto de pavor, zombaria e maldição, como hoje acontece;
19 o faraó, o rei do Egito, seus conselheiros e seus líderes, todo o seu povo,
20 e todos os estrangeiros que lá residem; todos os reis de Uz; todos os reis dos filisteus: de Ascalom, Gaza, Ecrom e o povo que restou em Asdode;
21 Edom, Moabe e os amonitas,
22 os reis de Tiro e de Sidom; os reis das ilhas e das terras de além do mar;
23 Dedã, Temá, Buz e todos os que rapam a cabeça;
24 e os reis da Arábia e todos os reis dos estrangeiros que vivem no deserto;
25 todos os reis de Zinri, de Elão e da Média;
26 e todos os reis do norte, próximos ou distantes, um após outro; e todos os reinos da face da terra. Depois de todos eles, o rei de Sesaque também beberá do cálice.
27 "A seguir diga-lhes: ‘Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Bebam, embriaguem-se, vomitem, caiam e não mais se levantem, por causa da espada que envio no meio de vocês’.
28 Mas se eles se recusarem a beber, diga-lhes: ‘Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: Vocês vão bebê-lo!
29 Começo a trazer desgraça sobre a cidade que leva o meu nome; e vocês sairiam impunes? Sem dúvida não ficarão sem castigo! Estou trazendo a espada contra todos os habitantes da terra’, declara o Senhor dos Exércitos.
30 "E você, profetize todas estas palavras contra eles, dizendo: " ‘O Senhor ruge do alto; troveja de sua santa morada; ruge poderosamente contra a sua propriedade. Ele grita como os que pisam as uvas; grita contra todos os habitantes da terra.
31 Um tumulto ressoa até os confins da terra, pois o Senhor faz acusações contra as nações, e julga toda a humanidade: ele entregará os ímpios à espada’, declara o Senhor. "
32 Assim diz o Senhor: "Vejam! A desgraça está se espalhando de nação em nação; uma terrível tempestade se levanta desde os confins da terra".
33 Naquela dia, os mortos pelo Senhor estarão em todo lugar, de um lado ao outro da terra. Ninguém pranteará por eles, e não serão recolhidos e sepultados, mas servirão de esterco sobre o solo.
34 Lamentem-se e gritem, pastores! Rolem no pó, chefes do rebanho! Porque chegou para vocês o dia da matança e da sua dispersão; vocês cairão e serão esmigalhados como vasos finos.
35 Não haverá refúgio para os pastores nem escapatória para os chefes do rebanho.
36 Ouvem-se os gritos dos pastores e o lamento dos chefes do rebanho, pois o Senhor está destruindo as pastagens deles.
37 Os pastos tranqüilos estão devastados por causa do fogo da ira do Senhor.
38 Como um leão, ele saiu de sua toca; a terra deles ficou devastada, por causa da espada do opressor e do fogo de sua ira.
A palavra que veio a Jeremias sobre todo o povo de Judá no quarto ano de Jeoaquim ( Jeremias 25:1 ).
Então agora vamos voltar no tempo. Isso foi antes de Zedequias ser rei. Isso foi quando Jeoiaquim era rei. Jeoaquim reinou por onze anos. Ele era um rei muito mau, mas era filho de Josias, que reinou por trinta e um anos. Jeremias foi chamado para profetizar no décimo terceiro ano do reinado de Josias. Então Josias agora está morto. Ele está morto há quatro anos, assim aconteceu no quarto ano de Jeoiaquim.

Então ele está dando a você o tempo desta profecia.
O que o profeta Jeremias falou a todo o povo de Judá e a todos os habitantes de Jerusalém ( Jeremias 25:2 ),
Portanto, esta é apenas uma profecia separada de Jeremias e está isolada das outras. Ele fica aqui sozinho. "Que o profeta Jeremias falou a todo o povo de Judá, os habitantes de Jerusalém."
dizendo: Desde o décimo terceiro ano de Josias, filho de Amom, rei de Judá, até o dia de hoje, isto é, o vigésimo terceiro ano ( Jeremias 25:2-3 ),
Então Deus chamou Jeremias para profetizar no décimo terceiro ano do reinado de Josias. Jeremias está profetizando há vinte e três anos. Eles imaginam que ele provavelmente tinha dezessete anos quando Deus o chamou para profetizar e, portanto, ele profetiza agora há vinte e três anos. Isso significa que Jeremias tinha cerca de quarenta anos na época dessa profecia em particular.
a palavra do Senhor veio a mim, e eu vos falei, madrugando e falando; mas não ouvistes ( Jeremias 25:3 ).
Eu falo com você há vinte e três anos, mas você ainda não me ouviu.
E o SENHOR vos enviou todos os seus servos, os profetas, madrugando e enviando-os; mas vós não ouvistes, nem inclinastes os vossos ouvidos para ouvir. Disseram: Convertei-vos agora, cada um do seu mau caminho e da maldade das vossas ações, e habitai na terra que o SENHOR vos deu a vós e a vossos pais para todo o sempre ( Jeremias 25:4-5 ) :
Apenas viva direito e você pode ficar aqui. Sirva a Deus e Ele o manterá aqui.
Não siga outros deuses para servi-los e adorá-los, e não me provoque à ira com as obras de suas mãos; e não farei nenhum mal a você. Mas vós não me ouvistes, diz o SENHOR; para que me provoqueis à ira com as obras das vossas mãos para vosso próprio dano. Portanto assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos; Porque não ouvistes as minhas palavras: Eis que enviarei e tomarei todas as famílias do norte, diz o Senhor, e Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, meu servo, e os trarei contra esta terra e contra os seus habitantes, e contra todas estas nações ao redor de ti, e eu os destruirei totalmente, e os farei um espanto, um assobio e desolações perpétuas.
Além disso, tirarei deles a voz de gozo e a voz de alegria, a voz do noivo e a voz da noiva, o som das mós e a luz da vela. E toda esta terra se tornará em desolação e espanto; e essas nações servirão ao rei da Babilônia setenta anos ( Jeremias 25:6-11 ).
E aqui Jeremias está predizendo que o cativeiro babilônico durará setenta anos. Agora você lê no livro de Daniel, capítulo 9, que Daniel disse: “E depois da leitura dos profetas, percebi que os setenta anos de cativeiro estavam para terminar. Procurei consultar o Senhor”. Então Daniel, sem dúvida, tinha essas profecias de Jeremias. Ele os estava lendo. E ele entendeu pelos escritos de Jeremias que seu período de cativeiro na Babilônia seria de setenta anos.
Aqui Jeremias declara isso nesta profecia em particular. Daniel teve essa profecia e guiou seus negócios pela Palavra de Deus. "Eu sei que os setenta anos estão quase terminando", então ele buscou o Senhor para ver se Deus tinha algum ministério especial para ele na repatriação.
"Eles servirão ao rei da Babilônia por setenta anos." Agora, os setenta anos foram porque eles estavam morando na terra desde o tempo de Josué 490 anos.
E Deus disse a eles na lei que a cada sete anos você deve deixar a terra descansar. O fundamento é ter um sábado. Não plante nada no sétimo ano. Apenas no sexto ano, reúna e o que você colher no sexto ano será comida suficiente para você passar pelo sétimo ano. Você pode comer o que cresce por si mesmo, mas não cultive a terra, não plante a terra. Deixe-o crescer por si mesmo no sétimo ano.
Uma espécie de rotação de planta do tipo de coisa que os agricultores perceberam agora é tão valiosa. Eu estava no Canadá há algum tempo e fui para as fazendas de forragem, e eles me levaram para uma enorme fazenda de trigo. E muito disso eles não plantaram. E ele disse: "Não, deixamos o solo descansar exatamente como a Bíblia diz. Descobrimos que obtemos colheitas muito melhores." E então ele disse: "É claro que temos..." Eles ainda plantam todos os anos, mas uma seção do solo é sempre reservada para que a cada sete anos eles apenas a deixem descansar.
Eles não plantam nada nele. Eles apenas dão um descanso ao solo. E ele disse: "Descobrimos que obtemos colheitas muito melhores dando descanso ao solo."
Já estavam na terra há 490 anos, mas não haviam obedecido ao mandamento de Deus. Eles não haviam dado à terra o sabbath. O chão não descansa há 490 anos. Então Deus diz: "Tudo bem, você não dá descanso a ela, eu darei descanso a ela. Vou tirar você da terra por setenta anos e a terra terá todo o seu sábado.
" Então você divide o 490 por sete e descobre que então vem os setenta anos que o solo foi roubado por setenta sábados diferentes, o solo foi roubado de seu descanso. Então Deus diz: "Oh, não, eu vou pegar Minhas dívidas.” Você sabe, Deus sempre receberá Suas dívidas. Você apenas. Não vale a pena tentar tirar de Deus.
E acontecerá que, quando setenta anos se cumprirem, castigarei o rei de Babilônia e aquela nação, diz o SENHOR, por sua iniqüidade, e a terra dos caldeus, e a farei em perpétua desolação. E trarei sobre aquela terra todas as minhas palavras que pronunciei contra ela, sim, tudo o que está escrito neste livro, que Jeremias profetizou contra todas as nações.
For many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of them also: and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the works of their own hands (Jeremias 25:12-14).
So Babylon will be punished after the seventy years. God will bring His judgment against Babylon because of their iniquities. God will use Babylon as His instrument to bring judgment against Israel. But later God's judgment will come upon Babylon itself.
Now at this point we jump on out to the Great Tribulation of the future. So take a leap through the time capsule.
For thus saith the LORD God of Israel unto me; Take the wine cup of this fury at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it (Jeremias 25:15).
Now there's a cup of the wrath of God's wine in His hand. If you'll turn to Revelation chapter 14, you will find corresponding verses beginning with verse Jeremias 25:9, "And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, 'If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb.
'" Verse Jeremias 25:19, "And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered," this Isaías 14:19,"he thrust his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs." And so the cup of indignation, here God introduces it to Jeremiah.
And they shall drink, and be moved, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them. Then took I the cup at the LORD'S hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom the LORD had sent me: To wit, Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse; as it is this day; Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people; And all the mingled people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod, the land of Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon, and all the kings of Tyrus, and all the kings of Zidon, and the kings of the isles which are beyond the sea, Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all that are in the utmost corners, And all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mingled people that dwell in the desert, And all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes, And all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another, and all the kingdoms of the world, which are upon the face of the earth: and the king of [Babylon, Sheshach is another name for Babylon] Sheshach shall drink after them.
Therefore thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Drink, and be drunken, and vomit, and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you. And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at thine hand to drink, then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; You will certainly drink. For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the LORD of hosts (Jeremias 25:16-29).
The Great Tribulation period. Now do you think that God would punish Jerusalem for their iniquity and allow us to go unpunished? Surely our iniquity is no greater than that of Israel. A nation that has forsaken God. A nation that is living after pleasure. A nation that has forsaken righteousness. A nation that has ordered prayer out of its school. A nation that has lived by godless humanism and is controlled by godless humanism in our courts, in our educational systems.
You think we can go unpunished? Oh no, God says, "Take it. You're going to drink of it, too. All of the earth." God's great judgment is coming upon all of the earth. "You will certainly drink for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the LORD of hosts."
Therefore prophesy against them these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth. A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the LORD (Jeremias 25:30-31).
Notice that? He will "give those that are wicked to the sword, saith the Lord." But what about those who are righteous by their faith in Jesus Christ?
You remember when God was ready to judge Sodom and Gomorrah and the angel of the Lord was on his way. And Abraham invited him to come in, prepared a meal. They said, "Shall we reveal unto Abraham what we're doing?" They said, "We're heading down to Sodom.
That place is so horrible, so rotten that we're going to destroy it. God is bringing His judgment against them." Abraham said, "Wait a minute, isn't God fair? Isn't the Lord of the earth just? What if there are righteous people living in Sodom? Would it be fair to destroy the righteous people with the wicked? Maybe there's fifty righteous people." The Lord said, "If there is fifty righteous people, we'll spare the city.
" "Oh? Well, you know, what if there is just ten less than fifty? What if there are only forty?" "We'll spare it for forty." "How about thirty?" "Yes." "Would you believe twenty?" "Yes, we'll spare it for twenty." "Let me talk once more and after this I won't ask anymore. How about ten?" Father Abraham. Be careful how you deal with his descendants. You'll get the best bargain they can. "How about ten?" I love them.
They're God's people. They really are and I love them. And I bless them in the name of the Lord. The Lord said, "I'll spare it for ten."
You mean, the whole wickedness of Sodom will be allowed to go on if there are ten righteous people? That's right. For the sake of the ten God will not bring His judgment. You're the salt of the earth. You are the preserving influence. People may scorn you. They may deride you.
They may say cruel and cutting things, but they better be thankful you're around. For if you weren't around, this place wouldn't be. God's judgment would have already fallen. But for the righteous' sake God withholds.
The angel came to Sodom he could not find ten righteous. He found one righteous man. And the angel said, "Get out of here, we're going to destroy this place. Don't look back." And the angel led Lot and his wife and his two daughters. But his wife turning back turned to a pillar of salt and so only Lot and his two daughters escaped. He was that. And Peter said that righteous man. He was the only one there.
But notice, God did not bring judgment upon Lot, but delivered him before the judgment came. Peter uses that as an example to show that the church will not go through the Great Tribulation. "For God knows how to deliver the righteous, but to reserve the ungodly for the day of judgment" (2 Pedro 2:9). So here talking about the Great Tribulation of His coming, God is going to bring His sword against all that are wicked, saith the Lord. But those that are righteous the Lord will have caught out in the rapture of the church.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth. And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the eaRuth (Jeremias 25:32-33):
Finally found the place where they're slain in the Spirit. All right. All over the place. From one end of the earth to the other.
they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground. Howl, ye shepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves in the ashes, ye principal of the flock: for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are accomplished; and ye shall fall like a pleasant vessel. And the shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the principal of the flock to escape. A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and a howling of the principal of the flock, shall be heard: for the LORD hath spoiled their pasture.
And the peaceable habitations are cut down because of the fierce anger of the LORD. He hath forsaken his covert, as the lion: for their land is desolate because of the fierceness of the oppressor, and because of his fierce anger (Jeremias 25:33-38).
That Great Tribulation, the time of God's judgment that shall fall upon the earth. Thank God that we as the church do not have to face that horror and terror that is coming. Revelation chapter 6 through 18 give detailed description of this period of time of three-and-a-half years. You can read about it there.
Father, we thank You again for the opportunity of gathering to learn of Thee and to study Your Word and to gain insight to ourselves as Your Holy Spirit takes Thy Word and probes our hearts and our lives.
