The porters were those who were to have charge of the entrances of the sanctuary. These two verses contain one statement, viz : — _The sons of Laadan, i.e., The sons of the Gershonite belonging to Laadan, the heads of the houses of Laadan the Gershonite, Jehieli,_ that is, _the sons of Kehieli, Zetham, and Joel his brother,_ were _over the treasures of the house of Jehovah._ In other words, Zetham and Joel the chiefs of the clan Jehiel, which was the leading house of the Laadanite branch of Gershon, had charge of the Temple stores.
