EXPOSITION This chapter is occupied in its first nineteen verses with an enumeration of the porters and Then of their arrangement. The porters were those who were to have charge of the entrances of the sanctuary. ABLE MEN. — _Were men of power;_ in the original, a singular collective. FOR STRENGTH. — Literally, _In the strength, i.e.,_ ability. WERE THREESCORE AND TWO ... — A distinct sentence: _There were sixty and two_ (belonging) _to Obed-edom._ Perhaps the word _kol,_ “every,” has fallen out before _ish hayil_ (comp. 1 Chronicles 10:12, where the same phrase occurred).
