_I KNOW ALSO, MY GOD, THAT THOU TRIEST THE HEART, AND HAST PLEASURE IN UPRIGHTNESS. AS FOR ME, IN THE UPRIGHTNESS OF MINE HEART I HAVE WILLINGLY OFFERED ALL THESE THINGS: AND NOW HAVE I SEEN WITH JOY THY PEOPLE, WHICH ARE PRESENT HERE, TO OFFER WILLINGLY UNTO THEE._ No JFB commentary on these verses....

10-19 We cannot form a right idea of the magnificence of the temple, and the buildings around it, about which such quantities of gold and silver were employed. But the unsearchable riches of Christ exceed the splendour of the temple, infinitely more than that surpassed the meanest cottage on earth. Instead of boasting of these large oblations, David gave solemn thanks to the Lord. All they gave for the Lord's temple was his own; if they attempted to keep it, death would soon have removed them from it. They only use they could make of it to their real advantage, was, to consecrate it to the service of Him who gave it....

Verse 1 Chronicles 29:19. _GIVE UNTO SOLOMON - A PERFECT HEART_] This he did, but Solomon abused his mercies....

EXPOSITION 1 CHRONICLES 29:1 These verses continue the account of what David said to the whole congregation, respecting his son Solomon and his tender age in view of the great enterprise of building the temple; respecting the public preparations which had been already made, and the gifts of his own individual property—these latter being alluded to, no doubt, for the sake of example. On the faith of them he grounds with tenfold effect his appeal to people and princes to join heartily in the work. The verses (6-9)also contain the statement of the hearty practical response which was made by the "chiefs of the fathers and princes of the tribes," and other varieties of givers, and of the consequent general joy. 1 CHRONICLES 29:1

AND GIVE UNTO SOLOMON MY SON A PERFECT HEART TO KEEP THY COMMANDMENTS, THY TESTIMONIES, AND THY STATUTES,.... All the laws of God, moral, ceremonial, and judicial, even to observe them cordially and sincerely: AND TO DO ALL THOSE THINGS; he had suggested to him particularly: AND TO BUILD THE PALACE FOR THE WHICH I HAVE MADE PROVISION; as before declared....
