_THOU SHALT NOT OFFER THE BLOOD OF MY SACRIFICE WITH LEAVENED BREAD; NEITHER SHALL THE FAT OF MY SACRIFICE REMAIN UNTIL THE MORNING._ Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leavened bread - literally, upon leavened bread; i:e., until all leaven has been completely removed from your houses. Many refer this to the Passover, which was pre-eminently the Lord's sacrifice. Leaven being regarded as an emblem of impurity or corruption, was, in preparing for this national feast of communion with Yahweh, to be carefully removed; unleavened bread only was to be eaten during the continuance of the feast; and this typified the necessity of sanctification to the people of God in the prospect of sacred communion with Him in the feast of the Christian Passover (1 Corinthians 5:7). Verse Exodus 23:18. _THE BLOOD OF MY SACRIFICE WITH LEAVENED BREAD_] The sacrifice here mentioned is undoubtedly the _Passover_; (see Exodus 34:25); this is called by way of eminence MY _sacrifice_, because God had instituted it for that especial purpose, the redemption of Israel from the Egyptian bondage, and because it typified THE LAMB of GOD, who taketh away the sin of the world. THE BLOOD OF MY SACRIFICE - It is generally considered that this must refer to the Paschal Lamb. See Exodus 12:7, Exodus 12:11, Exodus 12:13, Exodus 12:22, Exodus 12:27.
