_AND THOU SHALT MAKE CURTAINS OF GOATS' HAIR TO BE A COVERING UPON THE TABERNACLE: ELEVEN CURTAINS SHALT THOU MAKE._ Thou shalt make curtains of goat's hair. This after being spun (Exodus 35:26) was woven into a coarse kind of stuff resembling camlet, and used in the East as a material of common tents. It differed somewhat from the former in dimensions, no less than in general quality and appearance. EXPOSITION EXODUS 26:1 THE TABERNACLE. The sacred furniture which the tabernacle was to contain having been described, with the exception of the "altar of incense" the description of which is reserved for Exodus 30:1. (Exodus 30:1)-directions were next given for the sacred structure itself. This was to consist of three main things— 1. A quadrangular enclosure thirty cubits long by ten broad, open at one end, and on the other three sides enclosed by boards of acacia-wood overlaid with gold—called the _mishkan_, or "the dwelling-place," in our version usually translated "tabernacle." 2....

AND THOU SHALT MAKE CURTAINS OF GOATS' HAIR,.... Jarchi calls it the flower or down of goats, the softer and finer part of their hair, which was spun by women, as appears from Exodus 35:26, and was made up into a stuff somewhat like our camelot; these curtains were coarser than the former, and were made to be put over them, to preserve them from the weather, as it follows: TO BE A COVERING UPON THE TABERNACLE: which, by the curtains of linen coupled together, became one tabernacle, as in the preceding verse: and these curtains were to be a tent or covering over them: they were somewhat like, being made of the same matter, with the coverings with which the ancient Arabs covered their tents, which were made of goats' hair, as were the tents of Kedar alluded to in Song of Solomon 1:5

GOATS' HAIR Compare (Leviticus 16:5); (Leviticus 16:7). The reference seems to be to the result of the ordinance of the two goats as "covering" (_ See Scofield) - (Leviticus 16:5) _ thus speaking of Christ in atonement (_ See Scofield) - (Genesis 3:21). _ This thought is intensified in the colour of the rams' skins, (Exodus 26:14)....
