It is well known that Padan-aram is the same as _Mesopotamia_, and hence the Septuagint translate Μεσοποταμια της Συριας, _Mesopotamia_ _of Syria_. The word signifies _between the two rivers_, from μεσος _the midst_, and ποταμος, _a river_. It is situated between the _Euphrates_ and _Tigris_, having Assyria on the _east_, Arabia Deserta, with Babylonia, on the _south_, Syria on the _west_, and Armenia on the _north_.
