Jeremiah 31:35

Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name: THUS SAITH THE LORD ... WHICH DIVIDETH THE SEA WHEN THE WAVES ... ROAR; THE LORD OF HOSTS IS HIS NAME - quoted from , the genuineness of which passage is thus established on Jeremiah's authority....

35-40 As surely as the heavenly bodies will continue their settled course, according to the will of their Creator, to the end of time, and as the raging sea obeys him, so surely will the Jews be continued a separate people. Words can scarcely set forth more strongly the restoration of Israel. The rebuilding of Jerusalem, and its enlargement and establishment, shall be an earnest of the great things God will do for the gospel church. The personal happiness of every true believer, as well as the future restoration of Israel, is secured by promise, covenant, and oath. This Divine love passes knowledge; and to those who take hold upon it, every present mercy is an earnest of salvation....

EXPOSITION JEREMIAH 31:1 The promise of Jeremiah 30:22 is expressly declared to apply to both sections of the nation. Jehovah thus solemnly declares his purpose of mercy, and dwells with special Madness on the happy future of Ephraim. JEREMIAH 31:2 THE PEOPLE which were LEFT OF THE SWORD, etc.; literally, _the people of those left of the sword. _The expression clearly implies that the Jews at the time spoken of had escaped, or were about to escape, in some great battle or some other kind of slaughter. Israel's national existence shall be as permanent as Yahweh's rule of nature (Jeremiah 31:35 f.); it is as impossible for Israel to be rejected as it is for man to comprehend the created world (Jeremiah 31:37). In the future, Jerusalem shall be rebuilt from the NE. to the NW. corner (Zechariah 14:10), and (apparently) southwards, and shall include even the Valley of Hinnom (desecrated by human sacrifices to Molech, Jeremiah 7:31) as far as the SE. corner (the horse gate, Nehemiah 3:28)....
