Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. THEN SAID JESUS TO THEM AGAIN - now that they were not only calmed, but prepared to listen to Him in a new character. PEACE BE UNTO YOU. The reiteration of these precious words shows that this was what He designed to be not only the fundamental but ever-present, ever-conscious possession of His people. AS MY FATHER (RATHER, 'THE FATHER') HATH SENT ME, EVEN SO SEND I YOU - or rather, perhaps, 'even so am I sending you,' that is, just about to do it. (See the note at .)...

21._Jesus saith to them again, Peace be to you. _This second salutation appears to me to have no other object than that the Lord should receive such a degree of attention as was due to the greatness and importance of the subjects on which he was about to speak. _As the Father hath sent me. _By these words, Christ, as it were, instals them in the _office _to which he had previously appointed them. AS MY FATHER HATH SENT ME - As God sent me to preach, to be persecuted, and to suffer; to make known his will, and to offer pardon to men, so I send you. This is the design and the extent of the commission of the ministers of the Lord Jesus. He is their model; and they will be successful only as they study his character and imitate his example. The other disciples had gone away home, but not so Mary, she stands outside the sepulcher, and still waits, for she cannot go till she has seen her Lord. Love, however, has many sorrows for, as Mary stood without the sepulcher, she was weeping.
