1-8 The means of Joseph's being freed from prison were Pharaoh's dreams, as here related. Now that God no longer speaks to us in that way, it is no matter how little we either heed dreams, or tell them. The telling of foolish dreams can make no better than foolish talk. But these dreams showed that they were sent of God; when he awoke, Pharaoh's spirit was troubled....

Verse Genesis 41:2. _THERE CAME UP OUT OF THE RIVER SEVEN WELL-FAVOURED_ _KINE_] This must certainly refer to the _hippopotamus_ or river horse, as the circumstances of _coming up out of the river and_ _feeding in the field_ characterize that animal _alone_. The hippopotamus is the well-known inhabitant of the Nile, and frequently by night comes out of the river to feed in the fields, or in the sedge by the river side....
