Man may see God's works, and is capable of discerning his hand in them, which the beasts are not, therefore they ought to give him the glory. Verse Job 36:27. _HE MAKETH SMALL THE DROPS OF WATER_] This appears simply to refer to _evaporation_, and perhaps it would be better to translate יגרע _yegara_, "he exhales;" detaches the smallest particles of the aqueous mass from the surface in order to form _clouds_, as _reservoirs_ for the purpose of furnishing _rain_ for the watering of the earth. God is seen in _little_ things, as well as _great things_; and the _inconceivably little_, as well as the _stupendously great_, are equally the work of _Omnipotence_. _THEY POUR DOWN RAIN_] These exceedingly minute drops or _vapour_ become collected in _clouds_; and then, when _agitated by winds_, c. many particles being united, they become _too heavy_ to be sustained by the air in which they before were suspended, and so _fall down_ in rai

FOR HE MAKETH SMALL THE DROPS OF WATER - Elihu now appeals, as he proposed to do, to the works of God, and begins with what appeared so remarkable and inexplicable, the wisdom of God in the rain and the dew, the tempest and the vapor. That which excited his wonder was, the fact in regard to the suspension of water in the clouds, and the distilling of it on the earth in the form of rain and dew. This very illustration had been used by Eliphaz for a similar purpose (Notes, Job 5:9), and whether we regard it as it “appears” to people without the light which science has thrown upon it, or look at the manner in which God suspends water in the clouds and sends it down in the form of rain and dew, with all the light which has been furnished by science, the fact is one that evinces in an eminent degree the wisdom of God. EXPOSITION JOB 36:1 The two chapters, Job 36:1; Job 37:1, form a single discourse, and ought not to have been separated; or, at any rate, not so unskilfully as they are, in the middle of a description of a thunderstorm.
