Job 36:4

_FOR TRULY MY WORDS SHALL NOT BE FALSE: HE THAT IS PERFECT IN KNOWLEDGE IS WITH THEE._ _ FOR TRULY MY WORDS SHALL NOT BE FALSE: HE THAT IS PERFECT IN KNOWLEDGE IS WITH THEE._ I will not "speak wickedly for God," as the friends (Job 13:4; Job 13:7) - i:e., vindicate God by unsound arguments. HE THAT IS PERFECT ... - rather, as the parallelism requires, 'a man of integrity in sentiments х_ TªMIYM_ (H8549) _ DEE`OWT_ (H1844)] is with thee' (is he with whom thou hast to do). Elihu means himself, as opposed to the dishonest reasonings of the friends (Job 21:34)....

14-26 As in prosperity we are ready to think our mountain will never be brought low; so when in adversity, we are ready to think our valley will never be filled up. But to conclude that to-morrow must be as this day, is as absurd as to think that the weather, when either fair or foul, will be always so. When Job looked up to God, he had no reason to speak despairingly. There is a day of judgment, when all that seems amiss will be found to be right, and all that seems dark and difficult will be cleared up and set straight. And if there is Divine wrath in our troubles, it is because we quarrel with God, are fretful, and distrust Divine Providence. This was Job's case. Elihu was directed by God to humble Job, for as to some things he had both opened his mouth in vain, and had multiplied words without knowledge. Let us be admonished, in our afflictions, not so much to set forth the greatness...

Verse Job 36:4. _MY WORDS_ SHALL _NOT_ BE _F__alse_] My words shall be truth without falsity. _HE THAT IS PERFECT IN KNOWLEDGE_ IS _WITH THEE._] "The perfection of knowledge is with thee." Thou art a sensible, well-informed man, and will be able to judge of what I say....

FOR TRULY MY WORDS SHALL NOT BE FALSE - This is designed to conciliate attention. It is a professed purpose to state nothing but truth. Even in order to vindicate the ways of God he would state nothing but what would bear the most rigid examination. Job had charged on his friends a purpose “to speak wickedly for God;” to make use of unsound arguments in vindicating his cause, (see the notes at Job 13:7), and Elihu now says that “he” will make use of no such reasoning, but that all that he says shall be founded in strict truth. HE THAT IS PERFECT IN KNOWLEDGE IS WITH THEE - This refers undoubtedly to Elihu himself, and is a claim to a clear understanding of the subject. Introductory: Elihu desires Job to hear him still further. He has still more to say in God's behalf; and it is not trivial or commonplace, either in its object for he will ascribe right to his Maker; nor in itself, for he is one perfect in knowledge....
