1-10 In the sin-offering and the trespass-offering, the sacrifice was divided between the altar and the priest; the offerer had no share, as he had in the peace-offerings. The former expressed repentance and sorrow for sin, therefore it was more proper to fast than feast; the peace-offerings denoted communion with a reconciled God in Christ, the joy and gratitude of a pardoned sinner, and the privileges of a true believer....

EXPOSITION CONTINUATION OF THE SUPPLEMENTAL REGULATIONS ADDRESSED TO THE PRIESTS, RESPECTING THE RITUAL OF THE SACRIFICES. This chapter treats of the ritual of the trespass offering and the peace offerings, as the last chapter treated of that of the burnt offering, the meat offering, and the sin offering. SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS for guilt offerings and priestly dues. Leviticus 7:1 supplements Leviticus 5:16_ b._ The blood of the victim is to be dashed (not sprinkled) round the altar. The fat, as in other offerings, is to be carefully removed and offered to Yahweh. The priests-' dues are the same with the guilt offering as with the sin offering. (Every guilt offering is also a sin offering, though the reverse, of course, is not the case.) The notice about priests-' dues is fragmentary (see Leviticus 7:28). The priests are to have the hide of the victim; in the sacrificial tariffs of Marseilles and Sippar the hide goes to the priests; at Carthage, to the offerer. Both are -most holy" and to be killed in the same place (Leviticus 6:25, cp. Leviticus 7:1-2). The parts to be burned on the altar are the same (Leviticus 3:4; Leviticus 3:9-11; Levitic
