19-46 Moses reminds the Israelites of their march from Horeb to Kadesh-barnea, through that great and terrible wilderness. He shows how near they were to a happy settlement in Canaan. It will aggravate the eternal ruin of hypocrites, that they were not far from the kingdom of God. Verse Deuteronomy 1:30. _THE LORD - SHALL FIGHT FOR YOU_] In the _Targum_ of Onkelos, it is, the WORD of _the Lord shall fight for you_. In a great number of places the Targums or Chaldee paraphrases use the term מימרא דיי _meimera dayeya_ or _Yehovah_, the Word of the Lord, exactly in the same way in which St. John uses the term Λογος _Logos_ in the first chapter of his Gospel.
