_NOW WHEN SOLOMON HAD MADE AN END OF PRAYING, THE FIRE CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN, AND CONSUMED THE BURNT OFFERING AND THE SACRIFICES; AND THE GLORY OF THE LORD FILLED THE HOUSE._ The fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering. Every act of worship was accompanied by sacrifice. The preternatural stream of fire kindled the mass of flesh, and was a token of the divine acceptance of Solomon's prayer (see the notes at Leviticus 9:24; 1 Kings 18:38). EXPOSITION This chapter is occupied with three subjects. _First, _the description of Heaven's acceptance of the dedicated temple by fire (2 Chronicles 7:1). _Secondly, _the_ _sacrifices and glad feasting of Solomon and all Israel for several days (2 Chronicles 7:4).
