THE PRAYER THAT IS MADE IN THIS PLACE - literally, as in the margin. The unsual phrase includes the two cases of prayers offered in 2 Chronicles 6:24 and toward 2 Chronicles 6:34, 2 Chronicles 6:38 the sanctuary....

EXPOSITION This chapter is occupied with three subjects. _First, _the description of Heaven's acceptance of the dedicated temple by fire (2 Chronicles 7:1). _Secondly, _the_ _sacrifices and glad feasting of Solomon and all Israel for several days (2 Chronicles 7:4). 4. THE SECOND VISION CHAPTER 7:11-22 _ 1. All finished by Solomon (2 Chronicles 7:11)_ 2. The divine answer and the warning (2 Chronicles 7:12) A second time the Lord appeared unto Solomon. At this time He did not say again “Ask what shall I give thee,” but He assured him that Solomon's prayer had been heard and He had chosen the dedicated place for Himself. He graciously assures the king that if He has chastised His people by sending drought, locusts or pestilence and they humble themselves, and seek His face, turning away from their wicked ways, that He will forgive and heal their land. For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually_. NEVER, from the foundation of the world, was there so magnificent a structure as Solomon’s Temple, or so imposing a scene as that which took place at the dedication of it [Note: This may be briefly described, ver. 12.] — — — The prayer which Solomon offered on that occasion was no less remarkable: in point of humility and fervour and propriety, nothing could exceed it.
