Introdução

XIV.

This chapter consists of two distinct but closely-connected prophecies, the first of which (Ezequiel 14:1) was called out by the coming of the elders to enquire of the prophet, and announces to them that God will not answer, but will destroy idolatrous enquirers; while the second (Ezequiel 14:12) shows the falsity of the hope that God will spare the land for the sake of the righteous that may be therein. Both of these are closely connected with the prophecies that have gone before, and are doubtless placed in their chronological order, as uttered in the second year of Ezekiel’s ministry, the sixth or seventh year of his captivity.
